Decorate Your Own Soul- a Poem

September 10, 2020 1 min read
self-love poem Decorate Your Own Soul

Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
Veronica A. Shoffstall

My yearning soul, waiting

Ever so patient

To grow in strength

To travel the distance…

Quench my appetency to love me

I want to disencumber this fervent need

For acceptance from an external source

To “decorate my own soul”

From the cracks in my heart, grow…

My own garden, from my being

A beauty, strength, a love that embraces

The grace of me.

The greatest gift we can give ourselves is love. Instead of looking to somebody outside ourselves, it is really important to turn inwards and develop a relationship with the person you are. When one can do this, they have an even greater capacity to love others.

What do you do to cultivate a love for yourself? Please share in the comments below and don’t forget to share us! <3
